Common of a Confessor and Abbot
Office.
The mouth of the just is exercised in wisdom: and his tongue will be talking of judgment: the law of his God is in his heart.1
Ps. Fret not thyself because of the ungodly: neither be thou envious against the evil doers.2
Collect.
O God, who didst decorate with the grace of holiness thy blessed confessor and abbot N., make us through his merits to abound in good works, that we may be found worthy to obtain from thee, the highest good, all that is expedient for us. Through etc.

Gradual.

Offertory.
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, O Lord: and hast not denied him the request of his lips. Thou shalt set a crown of pure gold upon his head.3
Secret.
We beseech thee, O Lord, that the sacrifice which we offer on the feast of thy holy confessor and abbot N. may be acceptable unto thee, and that through the intervention of his merits, and by thy gift, it may increase our acceptability before thee. Through etc.
Communion.
Faithful and wise is that servant whom his lord shall make ruler over his household: to give them their portion of meat in due season.4

Postcommunion.
We beseech thee, O Lord, to extend thy mercy unto us who partake of these most holy mysteries, that by the intercession of thy blessed confessor and abbot N. we may obtain, through a conversation well pleasing unto thee, that which we seek in our prayers. Through etc.
