The literature which liturgical studies have accumulated in the last three centuries is enormous. The conclusions of many of the older books have naturally been superseded by later research, although some of them retain much of value for the study of ultimate origins. We note here an outline of some of the principal sources and most significant discussions; choosing chiefly such as may prove most accessible to American students who may desire to verify statements, or to pursue further such lines of investigation as may have been indicated.
